The Wages of Fear trailer blows everything away
The Netflix remake, led by Franck Gastambide and Alban Lenoir, has a release date.
“We took the key concept from the 1953 film: a crew must drive two large trucks loaded with explosives to blow out a fire in an oil well. Except that the slightest brake can cause them to jump with the goods!” Director Julien Leclercq follows in the footsteps of Henri-Georges Clouzot, with this Netflix remake of The Wages of Feara movie “very ambitious, with more than 3000 shots, like in a blockbuster” he confides to Première, present on the set (read in issue 548 currently on newsstands).
Franck Gastambide And Alban Lenoir succeeded by Yves Montand and Charles Vanel, 70 years later. The director of Robbers is in charge, with Hamid Hlioua (co-writers). Sofiane Zermani and Ana Girardot complete the cast.
The synopsis: “In the middle of the desert, near a refugee camp, an oil well ignites, directly threatening the lives of the populations. Dispatching experts to the site, the company which operates the site understands that it only has only one solution to avoid disaster: cause, within 24 hours, an explosion in the oil well using nitroglycerin. For a large sum of money, a shock team is then sent 800 km away to transport 200 kg of explosives aboard two trucks. The team now has less than 20 hours to hope to reach the oil well. 20 hours to travel through hostile areas controlled by armed rebels, cross minefields and drive two trucks full of nitroglycerin on rough terrain! The race against time is on.”
The Wages of Fear will be released on March 29 in streaming on Netflix.
