The White Lotus, season 3: still a successful vacation (critic)

The fabulous HBO series is back for a luxurious stay in Thailand where Malaise and Beauty intertwine wonderfully.

Yes, it’s still good! For his third experience in the world of luxury hotels, Mike White takes us to Thailand and confirms that his White Lotus – Who returns today to France on Max – is one of the very best series of the current decade! True to his DNA, his human comedy draws a new gallery of odious and madly adorable tourists, to better crunch our little flaws and other perversities.

Each of them has, as usual, their own demons to exorcise under the too mild skies of this overpriced sanctuary where spirituality is bought with big green tickets. We will have all our favorite vacationers: the dysfunctional family on the edge of the abyss and so discomfort of Jason Isaacsthe trio of super girlfriends (around Carrie Coon) who love themselves but hate each other, or the incredible couple formed by electrifying Aimee Lou Wood of Sex Educationwho bursts the screen alongside the fantastically taciturn Walton Goggins.

The cast is exceptional, writing always as jubilant. And the staging once again particularly neat. White films Thailand with a hypnotizing fingering, capturing the wild and bewitching essence of the country. The lush sets, between dense jungle and immaculate beaches, transport us to a moist and shimmering atmosphere which is reminiscent of the first season in Hawaii.

Each plan is a table, each landscape an invitation to escape and reflection on the inevitable collision of desires and frustrations. You will really want to go on vacation …

The White Lotus, season 3, to see on Max from February 17, 2025.
