They are already running in slow motion in the first teaser of the new Baywatch

Stephen Amell dons the red jersey in the first images of the reboot of the cult series. And of course, they are sexy!

This will be one of the curiosities of the new season to come on American TV: Baywatch will try to rise from its ashes in a new version. A sequel with a reboot feel, with new heroes in red swimsuits and Stephen Amell (Arrow) in the lead, to take over the role of Hobie Buchannon, the turbulent son of Mitch (David Hasselhof) in the original series. The kid has grown up: now an adult, Hobie leads the rescue unit as captain. But everything becomes complicated when a girl he didn’t know existed comes into his life. Charlie, played by Jessica Belkin, wants to follow in the family footsteps and join the team of rescuers.

Fox Broadcasting Company has unveiled the very first teaser for this Baywatch reboot. A very short first video, but enough to show the cast in red swimsuits on the beach… and confirm that the series clearly does not intend to turn its back on its ultra kitsch DNA.

Sharing the teaser on his networks, Amell simply wrote: “I dream in slow motion.” A sentence that perfectly sums up the spirit of these first images. The Malibu lifeguards have not changed and are still running in slow motion on the Californian beach…

The cast also includes Brooks Nader as Selene, while gymnast and influencer Livvy Dunne will make her acting debut in a recurring role. We will also find Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone and Noah Beck.

And for the little nostalgia shot: David Chokachi and Erika Eleniak reprise their iconic roles of Cody Madison and Shauni McClain.

Behind the camera, Matt Nix, the creator of Burn Notice, serves as showrunner and executive producer. The first episode is directed by McG.

Produced by Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, the series is currently filming in Los Angeles until July.

Originally broadcast between 1989 and 2001, Baywatch got off to a disastrous start, being canceled after just one season before being saved and becoming one of the most watched series on the planet, with more than a billion weekly viewers at its peak.

This reboot is expected on Fox in the USA next January.
