Josh Safdie’s new A24 film will be one of the events of 2026 in the cinema.

Before finding Arrakis for Dune 3Timothée Chalamet will come back to earth … and swap the spice against a small white ball.

The first trailer of Marty Supremenew highly anticipated film by Josh Safdie, unveils the actor in the shoes of Marty Mauser, ping-pong player in America in the 1950s. The synopsis announces the color: “A young man with a dream that no one respects will go through hell to reach greatness.”

Chalamet shares the poster with Gwyneth Paltrow, who embodies a famous cinema actress with which Marty begins a link on tour. Also in the casting: Fran Drescher in the role of the hero’s mother, rapper Tyler, The Creator, the magician Penn Jillette, Odessa A’zion, the personality of Shark Tank Kevin O’Leary (alias Mr. Wonderful) and the filmmaker Abel Ferrara (Bad Lieutenant).

Inspired by the life of Marty Reisman – five -time bronze medalist at the world table tennis championships and disappeared in 2012 – this sports drama is a fictionalized version of its journey. The head operator Darius Khondji said that Chalamet had trained intensively to stick as close as possible to the champion’s style: “He wanted to be like a real professional ping-pong player from the first day of filming.”

Marty Supreme marks the comeback of Josh Safdie behind the camera, seven years after UNCUT Gems (made with his brother Benny Safdie) and eighteen years after his first solo feature film, The Pleasure of Being Robbed. The filmmaker signs the script here alongside Ronald Bronstein.
