A French thriller for Disney Plus, about child stars of social networks.
Presented yesterday as a preview at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival, the series Children are kings is revealed today with the trailer put online by Disney Plus. Adaptation of the eponymous novel by Delphine de Viganthis original French production will tell the story of an investigation to find little Kimmy Diore, an Internet star who has just been kidnapped. She has millions of subscribers on the networks. So many potential suspects.
A critique of digital celebrity, the thriller will feature Doria Tillier as the missing girl’s mother, obsessed with her appearance and the opinion of social networks. Geraldine Nakache embodies the lone brigade leader in charge of the investigation, far from the virtual.
Oussama Kheddam, India Hair and Panayotis Pascot complete the cast.
The synopsis: “When Kimmy Diore is kidnapped in broad daylight, the shockwaves go beyond her family circle because she is not a little girl like any other: Kimmy is an icon, a YouTube star whose videos posted daily are watched by millions of viewers. Sara Roussel is in charge of the investigation and to save her, she will have to dive into this world she knows nothing about, as fascinating as it is terrifying, where the image of innocent child influencers is offered as fodder to anonymous fans. Sara also enters the Diore family and she gradually reveals the secrets of this family that resonate with her own past..”
Children are kings will be available on Disney+ from October 23.
