Valérie Bonneton at the heart of The Laura Stern Affair on HBO Max in January
A new French series for the American platform.
As Merteuil nears its conclusion on HBO Max, the Warner Bros. platform. prepares the arrival of a new French series.
The Laura Stern affair will be released on January 22, 2026. A societal drama in 4 episodes of 52 minutes, which will talk about violence against women.
Created by Frédéric Krivine and Marie Kremer, and directed by Akim Isker, The Laura Stern Affair plunges into the heart of a moving story where a woman, witness to feminicide, chooses to take up arms herself to protect those whom justice has failed to defend.
“Laura, a pharmacist and mother, founded an association to help women victims of violence, Femmes Debout. One day, she witnessed, helplessly, the murder of one of its members. Deeply traumatized and revolted by the inaction of the police and the justice system, she decided to respond to the violence with violence to protect those around her.”
The screenwriters explain their approach: to create a character with whom we can identify, an “almost ordinary” woman, empathetic and committed… until the moment she commits the unthinkable. The Laura Stern affair is not the story of a model, but a narrative shock posed as a question: what happens when justice no longer protects?
In the cast Valérie Bonneton will be Laura, surrounded by Samir Guesmi (David), Pauline Parigot, Rym Foglia, Pascal Rénéric, Yannick Renier, Marie-Sophie Ferdane, Eva Huault, Darren Muselet and Catherine Amé.
The Laura Stern affair will then be broadcast unencrypted on france.tv on February 19.
