Welcome to Derry briefly unveils itself in blood, screams and tears (video)

The IT prequel series will be released on HBO’s Max platform in 2025.

HBO is preparing its return, and it may freak out a few people. The American network has released a video introducing the upcoming series on its brand new platform, Max. It includes images from the series The Penguin, Dune: Prophecyseason 3 ofIndustrythose of The White Lotus and of And Just Like That… or even a first glimpse of season 2 of The Last of Us. Among these first fleeting glimpses, there is one that sends shivers down your spine: that of Welcome to Derryprequel to the franchise THAT.

Begun in 2017, the saga, which sees a Bill Skarsgard unrecognizable terrorizing the children of the city of Derry, was given a second chapter in 2019. Welcome to Derry will take place in the 1960s – logically 27 years before the events of IT: Chapter 1and the first images promise a gloomy and bloody atmosphere.

In this brief clip from the HBO promo video, we see a group of children wandering around a vacant lot. An almost idyllic image quickly replaced by a series of shots of children covered in blood or unidentified liquid, screaming in fear or casting an anguished glance at a presence that is not revealed to us. Finally, a young woman looks through a window, a wild look directed off-screen, a devilish smile on her lips.

All we know about this series, scheduled for 2025, is that it will see four children go in search of a friend who disappeared in mysterious circumstances. A kind of Stranger Things with a sixties twistin short, especially since the group of friends lives next to an army base that houses a super secret bunker, dedicated to special experiments.

Bill Skarsgård will be back in Pennywise/It makeup. Alongside him, Taylor Paige (Hit the Floor), Jovan Adepo (The Lefovers), James Remar (Django Unchained) And Chris Chalk (12 Years a Slave) will respond to each other.

Andrés Muschiettidirector of the first two parts, created the series for HBO with Jason Fuchs and is one of its producers.

Welcome to Derry does not yet have an official release date, but is slated for 2025.
