What if David Tennant had played Reed Richards in the fantastic four of the MCU?

The British actor reveals that he has tried an approach to the studio, without success.

An ex-Doctor Who among The Fantastic Four ? It could have happened …

David Tennant is not unrelated to the Marvel universe: its chilling interpretation of Kilgravealias the purple man, in the first season of Jessica Jonesremains engraved in the memories of the fans. But the Scottish actor would have gladly crossed an additional course.

Present at the MCM Comic Con (via Comicbookmovie), Tennant revealed that he had reached the role of Reed Richardsalias Mister Fantastic, in The fantastic four: first steps. A role ultimately attributed to Pedro Pascal

“In terms of superheroes, I had a weak little for Reed Richards, and unfortunately, they seem to have taken another direction”, he said. “But if it had to be someone else, I am delighted that it is Pedro Pascal.”

If Tennant has never been officially expected for the role, his remarks suggest that he or his agents have been able to express their interest with Marvel at a given time.

Besides, he is not the only old Doctor Who to have been considered. Matt Smith would also have been in the race, alongside Adam Driver And Jake Gyllenhaal.

The desire for tennant for the role does not date from yesterday: in 2013 already, he declared with humor in an interview: “I’m a little too old for many roles now, which is a terrible and alarming truth. But I could still do Reed Richards – Mister Fantastic.”

The fantastic four: first steps will be released in theaters next July. Pedro Pascal will share the poster with it with Vanessa KirbyJoseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.
