What series to watch this summer to spend the holidays cool?
Summer 2026 will be particularly busy, with the returns of Silo, Ted Lasso, Little House on the Prairie, a new Big Bang Theory or a new Green Lantern. Here are the serial meetings that should be talked about in July and August.
X-Men ’97 – season 2 – on Disney+ – July 1
After a first season acclaimed by critics and fans, the Marvel animated series returns with new episodes that promise to further explore the mythology of mutants. Disney has one of its biggest animated successes for adults and this season 2 could well make as much noise as the previous one, in particular thanks to the arrival of new emblematic characters from the X-Men universe.
Elle – on Prime Video – July 1
The world of Legally Blonde expands with this spinoff series centered on Elle Woods. More than twenty years after the success of the film starring Reese Witherspoon, Prime Video hopes to seduce a new generation of spectators, by recounting the youth of the blonde who is less brainless than she seems, during her high school years, and now played by Lexi Minetree.
Silo – season 3 – on Apple TV – July 3
Having become one of the most popular science fiction series on streaming, Silo continues its exploration underground. After going out, and coming back, Juliette Nichols (Juliette Nichols) now knows what is going on outside… The season will also serve to return to the past to tell the origins of the silos, in contemporary America… Finally, we will have answers!
Little House on the Prairie – on Netflix – July 9
Netflix resurrects a monument of American television. More than a simple remake, this new version intends to modernize the original work written by Laura Ingalls Wilder, while retaining its family spirit. The project intrigues as much as it worries fans of the original series. One thing is certain: everyone will take a look at this unexpected return.
Prisoner – on Canal+ – July 13
Led by Tahar Rahim, this gripping British thriller in the vein of The Fugitive promises to be one of the events of the summer: “When a prison convoy is attacked on an isolated road, Amber Todd, agent in charge of the transfer, finds herself trapped with Tibor Stone – former elite killer turned key witness against Pegasus, the criminal network he once served.” Exciting, right?
Lucky – on Apple TV – July 15
After The Lady’s Game, Anya Taylor-Joy returns to the world of series with this thriller adapted from Marissa Stapley’s best-seller. She will be a scammer with toxic charm, while Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor (seen in King Richard) plays FBI agent Billie Rand, who is on her trail.
The Hawk – on Netflix – July 16
Netflix is banking on Will Ferrell for this new golf sports comedy. No stranger to the genre, the actor has already distinguished himself on several occasions in the shoes of improbable athletes in the cinema: a megalomaniac NASCAR driver in Ricky Bobby: king of the circuit (2006), a figure skater as macho as he is ridiculous in The Kings of Skating (2007), or even Jackie Moon, owner-player of a basketball team in Semi-Pro (2008). It looks promising with a club in hand…
Stuart Fails to Save the Universe – on HBO Max – July 24
Almost a sequel to The Big Bang Theory. This time, it’s Stuart who takes the controls of an adventure that promises to be much crazier and science fiction oriented: an adventure that will take us from parallel worlds to parallel worlds with Bert and Denise and even Kripke! Something to satisfy those nostalgic for Leonard and Sheldon.
Ted Lasso – season 4 – on Apple TV – August 5
We thought the story was over, but Jason Sudeikis finally came back. After a conclusion that looked like a farewell, the American coach’s return to England constitutes one of the biggest events of the year for Apple. This time, Ted will coach a second division women’s football team…
Tip Toe – on HBO Max – August 13
The new creation of English genius Russell T Davies (It’s A Sin, Doctor Who, Years and Years), is always an event. With its hyper-sensitive subject, this neighborhood thriller and social chronicle around homophobia, Tip Toe promises a biting and deeply contemporary look at our times.
Lanterns – on HBO Max – August 17
James Gunn’s new DC Universe shifts gears with this series dedicated to the Green Lanterns. Described as a cosmic crime thriller, Lanterns is probably one of the most anticipated superhero productions of the year. With Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler to carry the ring…
Gomorra: The Origins – on Canal+ – August 24
Return to Naples to discover the beginnings of the criminal empire that gave birth to the cult series. Gomorrah remains an absolute reference in European crime fiction and this prequel will tell the story of how Pietro became the boss of the Neapolitan mafia.
Dark Matter – season 2 – on Apple TV – August 28
One of the greatest science fiction surprises of recent years. The adventure in the black box, adapted from the novel by Blake Crouch, resumes after a first season praised for its inventiveness. Parallel universes, existential issues and permanent suspense: Apple hopes to transform the essay with this sequel which should further push the limits of its concept.
