“Honestly, I think it’s fear!” says the producer and screenwriter of The Boys and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
He is the origin of The Boys, the Prime Video series. And this summer, he will bring back the Ninja Turtles at the cinema in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesthe animated film. Seth Rogen is a big geek before the Eternal, one of the producers most associated with pop culture. And yet, he’s never worked on superhero movies, either Marvel or DC. He explains what’s holding him back in an interview with Polygon:
“Honestly, I think it’s fear! With my partner, Evan Goldberg, we really have a pretty specific way of working. We’ve been writing together for over 20 years at this point and I think I would be afraid of be crushed by the process of Marvel or DC. But I say this, when I know nothing about the process in question… There are a lot of Marvel things that I like! But I’m not sure how one could be connect to this system that they have put in place, and which seems to be a very good system, at least a system that serves them very well!”
The door is open, but Seth Rogen goes on to explain and suggests he’s afraid to come out”frustrated“by this system of production.”What’s good about Ninja Turtles, for example, is that we are the producers of the film. We dictated the system and we dictated the process. We created the infrastructure and the process. We didn’t have to connect to someone else’s process. I think Evan and I are actually control freaks!”
His film Ninja Turtles will be released on August 9, 2023 in theaters in France.
