Will there be a Gen V season 3?

While the finale rather suggests a merger with the final season of The Boys, will the students of God-U ever return in a new season?

Is the spin-off finished?

The question arises very clearly after the broadcast of the finale of season 2 of Gen V, to be seen on Prime Video. This last episode begins a very natural transition to The Boys and does not at all open the door to a season 3…

Spoiler alert!

Marie Moreau and her friends will now join Starlight and her band of resistance fighters. They will try to make the revolution against Homelander in season 5 of The Boys. The entire season 2 of Gen V served to establish that Marie was the only Supe capable of defeating the psychopathic Protector, now in the White House. We imagine that not everyone will survive this civil war. The Godolkin University campus now seems far away.

And yet, the producers do not at all rule out extending the life of the spin-off. Michele Fazekas, Gen V showrunner, confides in EW:

The great thing about Gen V is that it tells very different stories each time. It’s an initiatory series for each of its characters. We would have to reinvent the concept once again, as we did with season 2. What does a superhero university look like in Homelander’s America? And then we have to wonder what she looks like after the events of the last season of The Boys? I have no doubt that we could find that answer.”

And the creator, Eric Kripke, is even clearer: He wants to continue!

“I have an idea for season 3 of Gen V that I love. It’s really surprising, unexpected, but also very emotionally powerful. I would love to do it.”

What idea? We don’t know anything about it yet. If so, this possible season 3 will be done without any of the previous characters. In any case, it will first depend on the audiences for season 2: “If the figures are good, we will have a season 3. If they are not, no. It’s as simple as that.”
