This is a surprising question, which will have caused quite a stir: “How often do you think about the Roman Empire?”
On the social network TikTokmany male Internet users respond “very often”, “several times a week”, or even “every day”where women say they think very little about it.
The question, which raised all kinds of social debates, amused Francis Ford Coppolathe director of the trilogy Godfather and of Draculawho, in the middle of post-production of the film of his dreams Megalopoliswritten on his brand new account Instagram official : “I think about it often. Francis Ford Coppola won over by Barbenheimer: “a victory for cinema”
The filmmaker has in fact hired Adam Driver, Nathalie Emmanuel, Forest Whitaker, Laurence Fishburne, Jon Voight, Talia Shire, Shia LaBeouf, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman and Dustin Hoffman to tell the story of an architect hired to build a modern city inspired by powerful Rome… before helplessly witnessing its fall.
Two years ago, Coppola invested $120 million out of his own pocket to ensure the filming of this film, which he had had in mind for several decades.
“My fascination with the Roman Republic is based on the struggle between political parties, he specifies. When the interests of the Republic yielded to the ambitions of a few powerful men, who became involved in these parties to establish their own wealth and authority, while relying on the armed forces to achieve their goals; and who, in doing so, dealt the final blow to a constitution already threatened with collapse.”
Megalopolis does not yet have a release date, although it is assumed that it will be ready sometime in 2024, as his filming is completed since last March.
