Zoe Saldaña reacts to her place as No. 1 actress at the box office
The Avatar star has just dubbed Scarlett Johansson thanks to Avatar 3. And she does not hide her emotion in a video published on the networks.
Neytiri, Gamora or Uhura… Thanks to them, Zoe Saldaña has become the most bankable actress in the history of world cinema.
An unofficial title with totally symbolic value. But a title that still stands out! Driven by the global success of Avatar: Fire and Ashthe actress has officially become the actress who has accumulated the most dollars with her films at the global box office, surpassing Scarlett Johansson who doubled Samuel L. Jackson last year.
So Zoe Saldaña can exult! The actress herself praised this delightful performance in a video posted on Instagram. Visibly moved, she expresses her gratitude:
“I just want to thank from the bottom of my heart for this extraordinary journey that has led me to become today the most profitable actress in the history of cinema.”
A success that she attributes above all – rightly – to the franchises and the teams with whom she worked.
According to data from The Numbers, films starring Zoe Saldaña now total $15.47 billion in global revenue. A score boosted by Avatar: Fire and Ashwhich has already grossed $1.23 billion internationally to date. A feat all the more remarkable since she became the first woman to have starred in four films each exceeding 2 billion dollars in revenue.
In her message, the actress does not forget to thank the directors who shaped her career: JJ Abrams, Joe and Anthony Russo, James Gunn, and of course James Cameron. To the latter, she pays tribute: “Thank you for believing in my potential, for seeing something in me that I wasn’t always able to see myself, and for pushing me to surpass myself.”
Saldaña also wanted to greet his audience around the world, reminding that this record would not exist without him: “Your unwavering support, your passion and your loyalty are the foundation of this success.” Before concluding with a strong message: “This record is ours…and I hope the next person to beat it will be a woman again.”
The publication quickly made the rounds on social networks, garnering more than 113,000 likes and a shower of congratulatory messages, notably from James Gunn, Eva Mendes, Karen Gillan and Camila McConaughey.
