Princess Mononoké comes out in the cinema in Imax: trailer
Miyazaki’s eco-friendly masterpiece returns in 4K restored version. Not to be missed.
25 years after its French release, Princess Mononoké a facelift is offered. The best film of the immense Hayao Miyazaki (according to the editorial staff of Première) returns to the cinema for the first time in Imax, in a 4K restored version which promises not to distort the beauty of this striking work, if we judge by the trailer which was revealed (see below).
Ecolo advocacy taking the form of a fantastic story, Princess Mononoké features a fight of the forces of nature against a devastating humanity. A message sent without manicheism and carried by sublime visuals, as described by the criticism of First from the time:
“”The images of Miyazaki are so strong that they give all their meaning to the idea of animation. (…) It’s beautiful and magical. It is also a lesson in humility.“”
The IMAX format promises to enhance the grandiose aspect of the film even more. The emergence of Princess Mononoké is scheduled for August 20, and you will have two weeks to (re) discover this great classic of animation cinema under these exceptional conditions.
The synopsis of Princess Mononoké ::
Japan, 15th century. Formerly protected by giant animals, the forest is depopulated because of humans. Wounded by a wild boar made mad by the demons, the young warrior Ashitaka leaves his family and goes in search of the god-cerf who alone will be able to undo the spell that plays his arm. During his trip, Ashitaka meets Lady Eboshi, at the head of a community of blacksmiths, who must defend himself against those who accuse him of destroying the forest to feed his forges. Among her worst enemies is San, a wild young girl raised by wolves, also called “princess mononoké”, the princess of the specters …
