Clash between Will Smith and Michael Bay: the director of Bad Boys slams the door

The Hollywood star had to find the filmmaker for a Netflix film. But it did not go as planned behind the scenes …

This time, there is no question of slap, but clash … or at least different creative.

Netflix’s next action thriller, Fast and loosewas to mark the explosive reunion between Will Smith and Michael Bay, after the first two parts of Bad boys. But the project has just experienced a serious stoppage: Michael Bay leaves the film, following a creative disagreement with the star.

According to Deadlinethe director would have preferred to direct the film towards more action, while Smith wished to accentuate the comic dimension of the scenario. Unable to find common ground, the two men ended their collaboration on this project, knowing that filming is supposed to start in October.

Described as a mixture of thriller and espionage comedy, Fast and loose will tell the story of a man who wakes up in Tijuana without any memory, before discovering that he lived two parallel lives: that of a crime baron … and that of a CIA agent under cover.

The script is signed Jon and Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson, with a production provided by Westbrook Studios (Will Smith’s company) and 87NOTH, the Action label by David Leitch and Kelly McCormick. Netflix is already looking for a new director.

For his part, Michael Bay remains busy: he is currently producing a live adaptation of Skibidi toilet (yes, really), board on a possible return to the franchise Transformers and develops a film Outstrunbased on the cult arcade game of Sega, with Sydney Sweeney headlining.
