End of shooting for The Boys: the heartbreaking farewells of Homelander!
Actor Antony Starr posted a message full of emotion, to say goodbye to his character and the series.
Farewell Homelander.
This Wednesday, when season 5 of The Boys – the last – has just completed his shooting, Antony Starr published a long message on Instagram to salute his alter ego and underline how the point was the “highlight of my career”.
Accompanied by new backstage photos, Starr says he waited before speaking, “time to digest the end of this series”.
“Difficult for me to put in words this incredible journey. The life and the growth that it brought to me. The great team. It is really the culmination of my career. When we started, I did not know what was going to happen. This juggernaut is gone and never slowed down. Except during the covid. And the strikes. But apart from that, he advanced, leaving his imprint on the television landscape. He is in his own category. “
The actor then addressed his thanks “to the incredible Canadian team, to the prod, in the demential casting, to the people of Amazon and Sony who took the risk of embarking on this crazy project (and made the excellent choice of Me Caster), and to all the people who contributed, directly or indirectly, to this magnificent, complex, twisted and delicious show.”
By playing Homelander, the leader as powerful as it is egocentric of the corrupt group The Seven, Starr explains that he had “space and freedom to push limits unexpectedly”, and will remain forever grateful for this experience.
If season 5 of The Boys will not arrive in 2026, the spin-off Gen V will return with its season 2 on September 17.
