Xavier Dolan is back and it will be in Paris!

The director is preparing a new series, which will take place in Paris in the 1980s.

Canadian filmmaker Xavier Dolan (Mommy) is preparing his return. And it will still be in TV series.

He who has not made films since 2019, with Matthias and Maxime, had already made a series for Canal +, in 2022, entitled The Night when Laurier Gaudreault woke up.

This time, his second series will be called rage, and will take place for once in France, on the side of Paris.

History will immerse us in the heart of racial tensions in the capital, in the 1980s. The series, still in development (it has not yet a diffuser and will be presented to the potential partners during the MIA market in Rome, dedicated to international series) aims to explore the rise of the Skinhead movement in Paris in the 1980s and the birth of “skins hunters”, these militant groups Local skinheads and their racist crimes, sometimes using their own violent methods.

At 36, Xavier Dolan had nevertheless announced in 2023 on Instagram his retirement from the production, he who had made eight films between 2009 and 2019, winning the jury prize in Cannes for Mommy in 2014 and the Jury Grand Prix for just the end of the world in 2016.

He therefore obviously decided to get out of his early retirement. Moreover, last year, at the Lumière festival, he announced working on a new feature film, without revealing the details.

The Rage series is produced by Manon Robillot and Laetitia Quentin de Gromard for the Parisian company Madelon Production. The scripts are signed Anaïs Topla, Mathieu Gouny and Marc Herpoux.

Recall that Xavier Dolan will be in the casting of the French film The Unknown of La Grande Arche, indoors on November 5 in France.
