We get closer to a new Caribbean pirates with Johnny Depp

Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 6? It is more and more likely, if we believe producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Johnny Depp may well regain the sea.

In an interview with Entertainment Weeklyproducer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed having discussed with the actor of a possible return in the shoes of Captain Jack Sparrow for a sixth film Caribbean pirates.

Bruckheimer had already expressed his desire to see Depp come back, despite the break between Disney and the star-a decision that the actor attributes to the publication, in 2018, of a forum signed by her ex-wife Amber Heard, where she spoke of being the victim of domestic violence, without however appointing it.

Today, the producer assures that Johnny Depp is open to the idea:

“If he likes the way the role is written, I think he will do it. Everything is a question of scenario, but he is ready in the idea.”

The last episode of the saga dates back to 2017, with Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s revengewhere Depp shared the poster with Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley. Discussions around a sixth part have been underway since at least 2019.

Bruckheimer said it would be a reboot of the franchise, but that he would still like to include Jack Sparrow: “It’s a reboot, but if it was up to me, he would be in it. I love him. He is an friend, an incredible artist, with a unique style. He was the one who created Jack Sparrow: it was not in the scenario. He put a little pupois and Keith Richards. It was his interpretation.”

For the moment, it all still depends on writing the script: “We are always working on it. We want to make this film, but we need the right script. We are not yet quite … but we are approaching.”
