Kiefer Sutherland teases a 24 -hour return return
The actor announces that a script has been written … but you still have to validate Disney.
Jack Bauer back on our screens? The rumor has been swelling for months and Kiefer Sutherland seems to confirm the possibility of reopening 24 hours flat, in an interview given to Montreal Now.
The unforgettable CTU agent dropped a scoop that will make fans shiver: a solid scenario has been written and really wants to do it!
“Howard Gordon (showrunner and executive producer) found an idea that I like. Before, the equipment was not written, so I couldn’t really say that I was the one that blocked the project. But now something was written. I think it’s really good. It’s solid.”
For the moment, it is not clear if this return will take the form of a tenth season or a special conclusion TV movie.
But having a solid scenario is already a huge step to bring Jack Bauer and his faithful to the screen. However, administrative obstacles remain: the series, formerly broadcast on Fox, is now the property of Disney. As Kiefer Sutherland reminds us:
“Now, it must go through different channels before being approved or refused. Like everyone, I would really like to do it. I would like to close this story. It had been left quite open. So let’s cross your fingers, there is a chance. We have already made considerable progress.”
The last appearance of Jack Bauer dates back 24: Live Another Day in 2014, where he was taken by the Russians in a helicopter bound for Moscow, accepting his fate with heroic resignation after years spent on the run and isolated from his daughter Kim. Before that, Sutherland had played the character for eight seasons between 2001 and 2010, with an intermediate TV movie, 24: Redemption (2008), which made the link between seasons 6 and 7.
