The Life Is Strange video game will become a series
It is Charlie Covell, a pierced creator of The End of the F ** Ing World, who will take care of the adaptation.
The era of serial video game adaptations is now open.
After The Last of Us or Fallout and while waiting for Mass Effect and many others, it’s Life is Strange to go into fiction format.
Prime Video has just ordered a series from the franchise.
The story, both investigation and initiatory chronicle, follows Max, a student in photography who discovers that she can go back in time by saving the life of her childhood friend, Chloe. “While she tries to understand this gift, the two young women embark on the investigation of the disappearance of a comrade. Their quest leads them to reveal the dark side of their city, up to an impossible choice, between life and death, which will change their existence forever,” promises the official synopsis.
The serial project is entrusted to Charlie Covell, a covered designer of The End of the F ** Ing World, who experienced an unexpected disappointment last year with Kaos, his mythological series canceled after only 1 season by Netflix despite good feedback.
Covell will be a designer, executive producer and showrunner: “It is a huge honor to adapt Life is Strange for Amazon MGM Studios. I am a huge fan of the game and I am delighted to collaborate with the incredible teams of Square Enix, Story Kitchen and Luckychap. I can’t wait to share the story of Max and Chloe with the players, players and a new audience.”
At Prime Video, we are delighted with the approach of Charlie Covell who “imagined a deeply captivating adaptation, in perfect collaboration with Luckychap, Story Kitchen and Square Enix. It is the ideal team to deliver a monumental series, both faithful to fans and accessible to new spectators.”
Released in 2015 in the form of five episodes on Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3 and PC, the first life is Strange has become a narrative phenomenon. The saga has since been enriched by several components: the prequel Life is Strange: Before the Storm (2017), the spin-off the awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit (2018), Life is Strange 2 (2018-2019), Life is Strange: True Colors (2021) and more recently Life is Strange: Double Exposure (2024).
