Liam Hemsworth becomes The Witcher: Trailer of season 4

The Netflix Fantasy series finally has a return date. Without Henry Cavill.

After the defection of the English actor, it is the young Australian star (he is 7 years younger) who takes up the sword under the gray wig of the hero of Fantasy. And Netflix has just unveiled the first official trailer, which also gives the date: season 4 of The Witcher will be released on October 30.

The series will finally make its return, more than two years after season 3. And this time, there is no question of cutting this in two: the 8 episodes of season 4 will be released in one go.

And to mark the occasion, we find Geralt de Riv facing … a spectrum.

In the video revealed today, Geralt crosses iron with a spectral creature and launches this freezing incantation: “With These Words, Your Mortal Shell Shall Meet My Fate in Fiery Hell” before freeing the enraged spirit for a death fight.

The official synopsis of the season 4 tease a destiny strewn with pitfalls: “After the upheavals of season 3, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri find themselves separated by a devastating war and countless enemies. While their paths diverge and their objectives are becoming clearer, they cross new unexpected allies, ready to join their quest. Have a chance to meet for good … “

The arrival of Hemsworth in Witcher had been announced in October 2022, even before season 3. We still did not understand why Henry Cavill – real fan of the game and very involved in the series – had dropped the case. Certainly because the creative direction no longer suited him. Or because he wanted to do other things (like adapting his other favorite game, Warhammer). “My trip as Geralt de Riv was filled with monsters and adventures, but I will have to drop off my medallion and my swords for season 4” he said laconically, announcing his departure. “In my place, the fantastic Liam Hemsworth will resume the torch of the white wolf.”

Alongside Liam Hemsworth, the casting will still be able to replace old faces, such as Anya Chalotra (Yennefer de Vengerberg), Freya Allan (Princess Cirilla de Cintra), Joey Batey (Jaskier), Laurence Fishburne (Regis), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold) and many others …

As already announced, this season 4 will be the penultimate: The Witcher will end after season 5. The last two seasons have been shot in the spot and will still cover three novels of the saga: the baptism of fire, the swallow tower and the lady of the lake.

“This is the beginning of a trip in two seasons so that our family finally finds themselves and can stay together-forever, we hope,” says the creator, showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich.
