Wicked part 2 soars ahead of Running Man at the French box office

The tricolor films Dossier 137, by Dominik Moll, and Jean Valjean, by Eric Besnard, are also off to a good start.

There were crowds at the starting line this Wednesday, in the French venues.

And Running Man is not leading the race. It is Wicked: Part II which achieved the best first day of the week, at the French box office, with 31,184 admissions this Wednesday (+ 23,776 in previews, which brings its total to 55,000 admissions). Jon M. Chu’s film still falls short of the performance of the first opus which exceeded 87,000 spectators on its first day. The average remains solid (65 entries per copy on 482 screens), but no real magic for Elphaba & co.

Just behind, we find Running Man. Edgar Wright’s version was dubbed. With 25,951 entries from 480 prints (54 spectators per theater), it posted a decent first day, boosted by 16,986 preview entries for a total of 43,000 spectators. A serious start. Enough to become, at this stage, the second best start for a film by the director. In 2017, Baby Driver had recorded 52,000 tickets sold at the end of its first day of operation.

The podium is completed by File 137the Cannes thriller by Dominik Moll, which confirms its excellent word of mouth. The film already attracts more than 46,000 curious people (thanks to 21,629 AVP). With 55 entries per copy, it is even one of the best ratios in the top 5. The distance film The night of the 12thwhich welcomed 13,850 spectators at the end of its first day in 2022.
