A Game of Thrones actor will be the ‘5th Beatle’ in the Sam Mendes biopic
Harry Lloyd will play the famous producer George Martin, essential in the career of the Fab Four.
Sam Mendes is actively preparing his event film on the Beatles. Quite a project since it will be a biopic in four parts (one for each member of the group), which will be released consecutively in cinemas in April 2028.
Filming began in November – it should last a year – and the news continues to fall. We have just learned that Harry Lloyd had been chosen to play George Martin (photo below). This great producer, who died in 2016 at the age of 90, had a crucial role in the group’s musical creations, to the point of being nicknamed the fifth Beatle. He has won six Grammy Awards over a 60-year career.
Lloyd joins Paul Mescal (Paul McCartney), Harrison Dickinson (John Lennon), Barry Keoghan (Ringo Starr) and Joseph Quinn (George Harrison). In October, the casting of the women of the Fab Four was also revealed by the press, but Sony Pictures has not yet officially confirmed it.
Harry Lloyd is best known to the general public for having played Viserys Targaryen in the first season of Game of Thrones. Daenerys’ ambitious and unbearable brother ended up “crowned” with gold by Khal Drogo, one of the most memorable deaths in the HBO series.
The 42-year-old British actor, who is the great-great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens. has since led a discreet career. We also saw it in the series Legion And Counterpartand we will soon find him in season 6 of Slow Horsesthe Apple TV spy show hosted by Gary Oldman.
It was George Martin’s son who first revealed the information during a radio interview. It has since been confirmed to Variety by production.
