Wicked 2 has changed its title

Running Man and Wicked 2 compete at the French box office

The two blockbusters of the week are in the lead. But French films are in good form just behind.

The race for first place is very tight this week at the French box office.

Wicked: Part II And Running Man are neck and neck, but Universal’s magical fantasy ends this week with a short lead, posting 252,000 spectators, helped by its previews. An almost identical launch in France, to that of Wickedreleased in 2024, and which had accumulated around 860,000 admissions at the end of the run.

Running Man blows down the necks of the witches and also displays 250,000 supporters in the stands, less AVP, but a better “first week” strictly speaking (233,000 against 228,000 for Wicked 2). This is a great start for Edgar Wright’s action thriller. Much better than his last film, Last Night in Sohowhich had only recorded 50,000 sales for its first week (less than 100,000 upon arrival), in 2021, in the context of the ending pandemic.

Elusive 3 thus falls to the third step of the podium, with 225,000 additional admissions in 607 cinemas. Its second week allows the action comedy to slowly approach 700,000 tickets sold, a solid score but slightly lower than previous installments over the same viewing times (734,000 in 2013 and 725,000 in 2016).

French cinema is behind, but still shows good levels:

File 137 by Dominik Moll attracts 240,000 spectators. This is a start twice as high as The Night of the 12thin 2022, who then rode the Caesars to pass 500,000 entries.

Jean Valjeanled by Grégory Gadebois, is off to a small start with 165,000 admissions in more than 400 theaters.

The comedy You haven’t changed by Jérôme Commandeur accumulates more than 100,000 new spectators this week in 668 cinemas, reaching 620,000 tickets after three weeks.

The richest woman in the world continues its momentum: Isabelle Huppert attracts almost 100,000 additional spectators in week 4 and exceeds 800,000 cumulative admissions.

Finally, The stranger by François Ozon, eighth in the ranking, has 90,000 new seats occupied and currently totals 660,000 spectators after one month of operation.
