A new horror film about the ancient creature, by Lee Cronin (Evil Dead Rise) and produced by James Wan.
Waiting to see The Mummy by Brendan Fraser come back to life, another creature from Egyptian antiquity will send shivers through the dark rooms this year.
A first trailer for this news Mummy has just been revealed and shows a preview of the horror reboot by Lee Cronin, the director of Evil Dead Rise.
This new rereading of the myth follows the daughter of a journalist who disappeared without a trace in the desert. Eight years later, she suddenly reappears. But something is wrong…and what should have been a happy reunion “quickly turns into a waking nightmare”according to the official synopsis.
Carried by disturbing music, the one-minute video distills anxiety more than it really reveals its images. The teaser focuses on a photographer taking pictures of a mummified body. Just before the end, a chilling detail seals the atmosphere: a spider comes out of the mouth of the corpse with grayish skin.
The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón and May Calamawy.
In France, it will be called The Mummy Awakensproduced by James Wan with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster for New Line Cinema and Warner Bros.
The original 1932 film, The Mummystarring Boris Karloff, told the story of an ancient Egyptian priest resurrected by accident, releasing a devastating curse.
