Hafsia Herzi and Alexis Manenti starring in the film The Rapture (trailer)
The two actors star in Iris Kaltënback’s first film, awarded at the 62nd Critics’ Week in Cannes.
The Rapture is the first feature film ofIris Kaltenback and features Lydia (Hafsia Herzi) a midwife dedicated to her work. When her best friend Salomé (Nina Meurice) becomes pregnant then gives birth, Lydia meets by chance a former lover (Alexis Manenti) and decides to lie to him about the child. The trailer for this drama is enigmatic to say the least since everything is implicit about the plot of the film. We understand that The Rapture will have as its crux this child and what he represents in the close relationship between Lydia and Salomé.
The viewer is lulled during the trailer by the voice of Milos, the character ofAlexis Manenti (discovered by the general public in Wretched of Ladj Ly), who appears to be the narrator of this story. Propelled into the world of cinema thanks to the grain and the mule in 2007, Hafsia Herzi returns here in an intimate drama about friendship, love and motherhood. Awarded the SACD Prize at the Critics’ Week of the last Cannes Film Festival, The Rapture will be released in theaters on October 11, 2023.
