Jaafar Jackson performs as the King of Pop in Michael’s latest trailer
A final trailer which reveals new images of the singer on stage in the upcoming biopic.
What reception will the public give to Michaelthe film dedicated to Michael Jackson?
Difficult to say, but a few days before the theatrical release, Universal is going all out on the icon in its brand new trailer loaded with totem replicas: “This is why I am on Earth”declares the artist in the video, where we also hear the star shine: “I have so many songs in my head”. Or his mother prophesy: “I always knew you were unique. You will shine your light”.
Beyond these conventional – not to say artificial – dialogues – the trailer presents several performances by the King of Pop in full action, including one where he wears the emblematic red jacket from the music video for Thriller. In terms of the big show, fans will obviously get their money’s worth.
“Michael paints a cinematic portrait of the life and legacy of one of the most influential artists of our time”Universal teases in its official synopsis. “The film tells Michael Jackson’s story beyond music, from discovering an uncommon talent as leader of the Jackson Five, to becoming the visionary artist whose creative ambition fueled a relentless quest to become the world’s greatest entertainer. Highlighting his off-stage life and his most iconic performances from his solo debut, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to experience Michael Jackson like never before.”
Miles Teller will be the mentor, John Branca, lawyer and manager of Michael Jackson for a large part of his life, who will take over… from the paternal Joseph Jackson, played by Colman Domingo.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua. Michaelwritten by John Logan, will be released in France in cinemas on April 22, 2026.
