Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans return in Avengers: Doomsday trailer

Marvel’s mega Blockbuster put on a show at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

After a series of teasers announcing the return of Steve Rogers aka Captain America, Thor, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four, Marvel Studios took advantage of CinemaCon, the event which presents major upcoming films to American exhibitors, to unveil the first real trailer forAvengers: Doomsday. We do not know when this trailer will be posted online, in the meantime the Hollywood media have given us the description.

Iron Man died in Avengers: Endgamebut Robert Downey Jr. is back at Marvel to play one of the most iconic villains in comics, Doctor Doom (Doctor Fatalis in French). He’s the one who opens this trailer, with his iconic green hood and metal mask, as he prepares his invasion of the multiverse.

The video then cuts to a clash between Gambit (Channing Tatum) and Shang-Chi (Simu Liu), then Mystique (Rebecca Romijn) transforms into Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), leading to a mirror fight between the two heroines.

Other characters pass by before we find Thor (Chris Hemsworth) facing Doom, who grabs his hammer without difficulty. “We’re going to need a miracle”, said the God of Asgard. “Hello buddy”, then responds Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), in turn taking Mjölnir in front of his stunned Avengers partner.

“It’s not possible”, reacts Thor, when we last saw Steve Rogers as grandpa at the end ofEndgame. He had taken advantage of his return to the past to live his life with Peggy Carter, his lover from Captain America: First Avenger. We are curious to know how the film will explain his return…

Avengers: Doomsday will it come down to this demonstration of fan service? In any case, it was the two MCU returnees, Robert Downey Jr. (who narrates the trailer with a vaguely European accent) and Chris Evans, who came to show this trailer twice in a row to the CinemaCon audience, with directors Anthony and Joe Russo as well as Kevin Feige, Marvel’s big man.
