Former Friends star Matt LeBlanc tries his hand at the detective series

The 58-year-old actor is trying a turn towards the dark thriller, far from Joey Tribbiani.

No, it’s not Mac and CHEESE!

Joey is going to star in a crime series, but a real one this time!

CBS is currently developing a new detective series called Flint, and Matt LeBlanc has been cast in the lead role, far from his cult character from Friends, with a dive into a much “darker” universe, Variety assures.

According to the official synopsis, Flint will follow a field-worn Los Angeles police detective on the verge of retirement… until the city imposes five more years of service on him. Determined to get fired, he continues with rule violations and disobedience. Problem: this makes him, despite himself, an even better cop.

In addition to playing the lead role, Matt LeBlanc will also serve as executive producer on the project. The screenplay is by Evan Katz (former screenwriter of 24 Heures Chrono).

Note that this could be a turning point in the career of the 58-year-old actor, who never managed to break away from the role of Joey Tribbiani in Friends (broadcast from 1994 to 2004). He then took up the character in the spin-off Joey, then distinguished himself in the series Episodes, where he played with his own caricature.

The project was presented during the presentation of the channel’s development grid in Los Angeles. Note that Flint has not yet received a full series order: CBS is still in the development stage, and no official validation for a production or a pilot at this stage. Let’s hope that Matt LeBlanc will have more success with Flint than Joey with Mac and CHEESE..
