Roads to Paradise: a remake of the old series with Michael Landon
An angel sent to Earth to help people in trouble across the United States.
Almost forty years after its broadcast, Les Routes du paradis will once again take viewers to 7th heaven.
Fox is officially preparing a reboot of the famous fantasy series led at the time by Michael Landon. This new version is planned for the 2027-2028 TV season.
The project will be overseen by Jason Katims, Emmy Award-winning writer and producer of Friday Night Lights and Parenthood. He will take the helm of this modern retelling of the cult series from the 80s, centered on an angel sent to Earth to help people in difficulty across the United States.
According to Fox, this new version aims to reconnect old fans while introducing the franchise to a new generation with its timeless themes around “compassion, humanity and second chances.”
The production will also bring together the Amblin Television teams, with Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Todd Cohen, as well as Cindy Landon, widow of Michael Landon, who will participate in the project through Michael Landon Productions. She explains:
“The Roads to Heaven has always been about human connection, compassion and the idea that small gestures can have a huge impact. I’m proud to continue Michael’s legacy with partners who truly understand the heart of this series.”
For his part, Jason Katims promises a more contemporary approach to the concept.
“The idea of telling a very human and realistic story about an angel immediately touches me emotionally… and I also find it very funny. I like to step out of my comfort zone to tell the story of someone who is trying to be a better angel than he was a man.”
No casting has yet been announced for this new version. The original series, which aired between 1984 and 1989 on NBC, starred Michael Landon and Victor French in the lead roles.
