After playing memorable villains in the 7th art, Mads Mikkelsen moves into the 10th art and will be the main antagonist of Modern Warfare 4.

He’s one of the most identifiable faces of Hollywood villains.

Mads Mikkelsen, known in particular for having played Gellert Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts and Le Chiffre in Casino Royalenow becomes a video game villain. After his role as Clifford Unger in Death Strandingthe Danish actor joins the campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4as revealed in the new trailer unveiled at the Tokyo Game Show.

His character, known as The Archeris presented as the great threat of this new adventure. In the last seconds of the trailer, Mikkelsen appears face to face with Captain Price, whom he directly threatens: “I’m going to make you beg for mercy. When everything you hold dear dies in ways you can’t imagine. What you’re about to see…” Price, true to form, doesn’t really seem impressed: “I’ve seen some things.”

Beyond this face-to-face, the trailer reveals a campaign which promises to shake up the habits of the series. After the events of Modern Warfare IIIPrice is now on the run and Task Force 141 has been disbanded. Ghost and the other members of the team hunt him down, while a new threat looms at the same time. Much of the action will take place on the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea is launching a full-scale invasion of South Korea.

The plot will also be based on a mysterious weapon capable of upsetting the world order and which Mikkelsen’s character covets.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be released on October 23, 2026, with early access to the campaign starting October 16 for certain players who pre-ordered the game.
