Avengers: Endgame Extended: what are the four new scenes?

The re-release of Avengers: Endgame adds four new scenes that directly connect with Avengers: Doomsday. And some have some serious surprises in store.

A few months before the release ofAvengers: DoomsdayMarvel comes out Avengers: Endgame at the cinema in a new version called Avengers: Endgame Extended.

Four minutes of new footage has been added to the 2019 blockbuster, including Loki, Bruce Banner and… Doctor Doom.

Marvel has been preparing the ground for several months for Doomsdaywith various teasers released last year showing the returns of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Black Panther (Letitia Wright), the Fantastic Four, and even the X-Men.

Today, four new scenes ofEndgame Extended, tours during the production of Doomsday and which therefore come to bridge the gap between the two enormous films Avengers.

The first takes place just after the conclusion ofEndgameduring the famous moment when Steve Rogers finds Peggy Carter to dance with her. As we already knew, Steve hung up his Captain America costume, entrusted his shield to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and went back in time to find Peggy and finally live his life with her. Except someone comes knocking on their door. And it’s Loki.

The last time we saw the character was in season 2 of Lokion Disney Plus, he had sacrificed himself to keep the entire multiverse in balance, doomed to sit on his throne for eternity. But this new scene shows the God of Mischief in his TVA uniform, coming to visit Steve and Peggy. It could in particular be a question of the temporal branch created by Steve by returning to the past and the consequences of this trip on the multiverse.

Loki also appears in a second scene, this time within the TVA, with Mobius (Owen Wilson), Casey (Eugene Cordero), Ouroboros (Ke Huy Quan), and Miss Minutes (Tara Strong). They discover that two Earths are about to collide during an incursion. Then the phenomenon spreads: other realities begin to collide and disappear. The conclusion is clear: the multiverse is collapsing.

It remains to be seen what these two Earths are. Could it be the universe X-Men from Fox and the MCU? We already know that Professor Xavier, Magneto, Cyclops, Mystique (Rebecca Romijn), Diablo (Alan Cumming) and Gambit (Channing Tatum) must enter the MCU. This scene could therefore directly prepare for their confrontation with the Avengers, already seen in the trailer for Doomsday.

The third scene comes during the credits and concerns Bruce Banner. It takes place after the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Dayin which Hulk had been captured. In the film, Bruce loses control after Jean Gray (Sadie Sink) takes control of his mind and unwillingly transforms into the Hulk. Spider-Man (Tom Holland) manages to defeat the Green Colossus, before Bruce is taken to a secure medical center. In this new scene, Bruce is in an underground bunker working on a serum to prevent his transformation into the Hulk. But Doctor Doom suddenly bursts into his laboratory. Bruce then transforms into the Hulk and lunges at him. The scene ends there, without revealing the outcome of the fight.

One thing seems certain: Bruce Banner could well be back in Avengers: Doomsday. It remains to be seen whether this time he will be under the control of Doctor Doom.

Finally, the fourth and final scene arrives at the very end of the credits. It repeats the mysterious metallic noise heard at the very end of the Endgame original.

At the time, fans understood that it was a nod to Iron Manand more specifically to the first film from 2008, when Tony Stark was forging his armor.

This time, Marvel briefly shows Doctor Doom making his metal mask, with the exact same sound in the background. A fairly obvious way to bring together the two characters, both played by Robert Downey Jr., and to suggest that their origins could have certain points in common.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in cinemas in France on December 16.
