The Stillwater comics will be adapted into a live-action series
Ben Hardy will headline this horror series ordered by Prime Video.
After Conjuring: Judgment Day, Ben Hardy will return to the horror side.
The actor will headline the live-action series adaptation of Stillwater, the comic book created by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez. Amazon Prime Video has ordered a first season of 8 one-hour episodes.
Hardy will play Daniel West, an ex-convict who receives a mysterious letter promising him answers about his past as well as a substantial inheritance. Head to Stillwater, a seemingly quiet little town where Daniel quickly discovers that something is wrong: no one ages, no one dies and no one can leave town. A pitch which therefore promises a strange mix of horror and fantastic thriller, with a good dose of mystery.
The series was developed by Greg Berlanti and Carly Wray, who co-wrote the pilot and will serve as executive producers.
The two screenwriters explain that they immediately thought of Ben Hardy for the role:
“There’s a certain toughness about him, but also something extremely open and sensitive. Daniel needs both. As soon as we saw him in the role, it was impossible to imagine anyone else.”
Known for Bohemian Rhapsody, X-Men: Apocalypse and Only the Brave, Ben Hardy also played in the series The Girl Before, The Woman in White and EastEnders. He recently starred in The Conjuring: Judgment Day.
The Stillwater comic, published by Skybound, was launched by Chip Zdarsky and Ramón K. Pérez. Amazon officially gave the green light to the adaptation last July.
No release date has yet been announced.
