A screenwriter from The Batman will write a new Game of Thrones series
Mattson Tomlin takes on Aegon I Targaryen, aka The Conqueror.
While we wait for the rest of House of the Dragon and that the spin-off A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight to start filming, HBO moves forward with another spin-off series Game Of Thrones.
The prequel dedicated to the reign of Aegon I Targaryen has just hired a screenwriter. It is Mattson Tomlinwho contributed to the script of The Batman and who is currently co-writing The Batman Part II (with Matt Reeves) for Warner Bros, which is responsible for imagining the scenario for this spin-off. One source describes his vision for the prequel as “a return to basics.”
It’s only in the very early stages of development at present, but the story would take place around a century before House of the Dragonabout 300 years before Game Of Thrones and would tell the story of the Conqueror, the very first to sit on the Iron Throne and found the Targaryen dynasty. Aegon and his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys, used their three dragons to conquer six of the seven kingdoms of Westeros (all except Dorne) as their civilization fell, with the fall of Valyria.
Remember that a fifth series Game Of Thronesa sequel centered on Jon Snow in the far north, is under development.
