As its name suggests, Father Mother Sister Brother will be a social comedy around the family.
This is the comeback of Jim Jarmusch. Six years after her zombie film The Dead don diethe filmmaker returns to the best he knows how to do: social tragicomedia, which scrutinizes men and women.
The Mubi platform unveiled the first trailer for Father Mother Sister Brotherled by Adam Driver and Cate Blanchett, who will play a brother and a sister. The film made its great world premiere at the Venice Mostra, before an American release scheduled for December 24. The release in France is wedged for January 6, 2026.
Presented as a dramatic comedy in the form of a triptych, the film is interested in three distinct stories where distant siblings meet to face their complicated parents. Adam Driver and Mayim Bialik thus embody a brother and a sister who came to hear from their father; Cate Blanchett and Vicky Krieps play two sisters in front of an emotionally distant mother; Finally, Indya Moore and Luka Sabbat interpret twins confronted with a family tragedy.
Around them, an eclectic cast: Tom Waits, Charlotte Rampling, Sarah Greene and Françoise Lebrun.
Written and directed by Jim Jarmusch, Father Mother Sister Brother Also benefits from her music, composed with Anika.
Synopsis: “Father Mother Sister Brother is a feature film built in the form of a triptych. Each story stages the relationship between adult children and their somewhat distant parents (or one of them), but also between the brothers and sisters themselves. Each chapter takes place in the present, and in a different country: Father in the northeast of the United States, Mother in Dublin in Ireland, and Sister Brother in Paris, France.
