Predator returns in force in the Badlands trailer

After Badlands, will the Predator saga continue?

Dan Trachtenberg, who has taken over the saga, intends to prolong the pleasure.

The mythical hunter from the confines of Space is not yet an endangered species.

Barely Predator: Badlands released in theaters, Dan Trachtenberg confirms that a fourth film is already in preparation.

A lightning development which proves that the director – who knew how to relaunch the license with Prey (2022) – don’t plan to stop there. “We knew that Badlands was not an end, but a new beginning”confided the filmmaker to SFX Magazine. “We still have a lot to explore, and the next film will push the boundaries of what it means to be a Predator.”

Predator: Badlands was made at the same time as the animated film Killer of Killers (released on Disney+). Dan Trachtenberg explained that he worked simultaneously on Badlands and on the animated project, while thinking about what comes next.

“After Prey, I started thinking about sequels. Two films came out of that, and a third project that I’m dying to get started,” he explained. “I was so eager to move on to this third idea that I shot two projects at once.”

This mysterious third project remains secret, but everything indicates that it could be connected to Badlands or to Killer of Killers. Or both.

Above all, the director promises something new: “None of these ideas came from a simple need to continue a story because it worked. It all came from a creative instinct. Nobody has done that before in science fiction. Nobody has done it in Predator. Nobody has explored the creature in this way.”

Producer Ben Rosenblatt, for his part, slipped in some information that immediately made fans shiver: he would like to bring back Arnold Schwarzenegger who could return to service in this future opus. A rumor relayed by EW.comwhich evokes discussions around a possible cameo or a more substantial return of the legendary Major Dutch Schaefer, hero of the original film by John McTiernan (1987).

All this will inevitably depend on the score of Predator: Badlands at the box office, and in particular its performance in American theaters starting this weekend. But the killer seems to have a future…
