Will Reacher be the new Batman? “I talked about it with James Gunn”
The actor is convinced that there is a place for him in the new DC Universe. But maybe not in Gotham …
For several months, the name of Alan Ritchson, muscular hero of the series Reachecirculates insistently to embody the new Batman in the DC universe supervised by James Gunn. Questioned by Varietythe actor confirmed that he had had exchanges with the boss of DC Studios.
“It is not a rumor that James Gunn is a fan. He said it himself. And am I a fan of James Gunn? Absolutely. Words were exchanged about Batman”.
But he tempers immediately:
“I strongly think that Batman is not in my future.”
The actor seems to think that he will not be retained for the role. Nevertheless, he is convinced that another superheroic destiny awaits him under the DC banner: “I think there is something for me at DC, and I would like it to materialize.”
For his part, James Gunn recalled that the casting of the future Batman was not yet a priority: “Of course, there are people I think, but let’s wait to see what the script will give. This is not the most advanced project. We have much, much closer.”
As a reminder, Gunn announced in 2023 that two Batman would coexist in the cinema: Robert Pattinson will continue to evolve in his separate universe, launched by The Batman (2022) and extended by the series The Penguin (2024), before The Batman Part II Expected in 2027. On the other side, the DCU universe will see a new black knight appear in The Brave and the Boldan adventure centered on Batman and Robinproduced by Andy Muschietti (The Flash).
