After I Lost My Body, Jérémy Clapin returns, this time in live action (trailer)
In Meanwhile on Earth, a young girl searches for her brother, a missing astronaut. Would she be willing to sacrifice loved ones to bring him back to her side?
“Seeing I lost my body, we are certain to witness the birth of a great filmmaker. There is a lot of talk about surrealism in Happy Handthe work of Guillaume Laurant (novelist and screenwriter assigned to Jean-Pierre Jeunet) of which this animated film is the adaptation: we follow in particular the journey of a severed hand, “alive”, who experiences adventures parallel to those of his owner. This poetic license allows us to spectacularly illustrate a major theme around breakage.”
Five years after the shocking J'I lost my bodywho had surprised First during its screening at the 2019 Annecy festival, its director returns to the cinema. In live action, this time, via a feature film entitled Meanwhile on earth. Megan Northam, Sofia Lesaffre and Catherine Salée carry this new original story, where animation will not be completely put aside, according to this trailer, accompanied by the official synopsis of the film:
Elsa, 23, has always been very close to her older brother Franck, an astronaut who mysteriously disappeared 3 years earlier during a space mission. One day, she is contacted from space by an unknown life form who claims to be able to bring her brother back to earth. But there is a price to pay…
All this is very enigmatic, evoking a touch of paranoid cinema a la bodysnatchersa hint of body horror dear to David Cronenberg and the kind of Faustian pact that can bring the best thrillers to life. To find out more, you'll have to wait a month: Meanwhile on earth will be released in theaters on July 3.
