After Monarch, a new Godzilla series is preparing for the MonsterVerse

It will be worn by Wyatt Russell, back in the shoes of “young” Colonel Lee Shaw.

The MonsterVerse continues to expand.

While season 2 of the spin-off series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters arrives at the end of February on Apple TV, and while waiting for the cinema release of the film Godzilla x Kong: Supernova, in March 2027, Legendary announces a new prequel production, which will explore the past of Colonel Lee Shaw, still played by Wyatt Russell, who already played the younger version of Kurt Russell (his father in the city) in the flashback sequences of season 1 of Monarch.

The project, still without an official title, will take place in 1984, at a time when Shaw embarks on “a secret mission behind enemy lines to prevent the Soviets from unleashing a new Titan capable of destroying the United States and turning the tide of the Cold War.”

Leading the series, Emmy-nominated writer and producer Joby Harold will serve as showrunner. He will also oversee the entire MonsterVerse on Apple TV, promising the appearance of new Titans as well as iconic creatures already dear to fans.

Morgan Wandell, Head of International Development for Apple TV, was excited: “Since its worldwide debut, audiences have been clamoring for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and we can’t wait to reveal these electrifying new stories that Joby and the entire team have created. With Joby at the helm and our amazing partners at Legendary, this spin-off will launch an epic expansion of the Monsterverse, bringing audiences closer to their favorite Titans while delivering a character-driven narrative.”
