At 72, the darling actor I narrowed the kids left his retirement
Rick Moranis returns … in a very, very, very distant galaxy for the continuation of the crazy history of space!
It was a parody of Star Wars that marked the 1980s: The crazy history of space (Or Spaceballs In VO) had gathered nearly a million French spectators in theaters in 1987.
In the casting, we notably found Rick Moranis, comic star of the time, thanks to his appearances in Ghosts and above all his role of scientific dad in Darling, I narrowed the kids. Unfortunately, at the top of his glory, the actor had left the sets following the death of his wife, in 1991, to devote himself to his children. Rick Moranis was then becoming increasingly rare, appearing briefly in The Pierrafeu familyand resuming his role as Wayne Szalinski one last time in 1997 in Darling, we were shrunk. Since then, he has disappeared from radars and has not appeared on the screen (he has made a few dubbing here and there).
Almost 30 years later, Rick Moranis therefore regains service to shoot in Spaceballs 2following The crazy history of space. He will resume his role as Lord Dark Helmet – Dark Vader pastiche – alongside Bill Pullman (Lone Starr), Mel Brooks (Master Yogurt Yoda), Daphne Zuniga (Princess Vespa) and George Wyner (Colonel Sandurz). The new intergalactic adventure will also welcome new heads: Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman and Anthony Carrigan.
Amazon MGM confirmed the cast and shared a reading photo with the whole team (below).
Directed by Josh Greenbaum (Barb and Star Go to Vista del Mar), according to a scenario of Josh Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez, The crazy story of space 2 should land in theaters in 2027.
