Barbie dominates the world and breaks US box office records
And Oppenheimer is already stronger than Tenet!
She’s not afraid of a few ghosts! Despite the release of Haunted Mansion from Disney this week, Barbie continues to crush the US box office, for its second weekend in theaters. The Doll remains at number 1 in the charts across the Atlantic and adds $93 million, the seventh-biggest second weekend in American cinema history behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($149 million), Avengers: Endgame ($147 million) and Infinity War ($114 million), Black Panther ($111 million), Jurassic World ($106 million) and avengers ($103 million). It should be noted that these 6 films each exceeded one billion dollars in revenue and Barbie go straight there, since Margot Robbie and her friends have already amassed $750 million worldwide after only two weeks of operation.
Behind, difficult for Christopher Nolan to follow the rhythm. Oppenheimer is doing very well all the same since the biopic garners 46 million more dollars at the US box office in the second week, to cross the 170 million mark. This is the first time that an R-Rated film has managed to chain at least $10 million in revenue per day for 7 consecutive days.
Oppenheimer is also a hit internationally and has now passed the 400 million dollar mark in worldwide revenue. It’s already stronger than its previous tenet ($365 million in 2020) and Batman Begins (373 million).
Behind the hellish duo, The Haunted Mansion of Disney did not scare many people. The fantasy comedy hits the catwalk with $24.6 million across the Atlantic and $33 million internationally alone so far.
Finally, we note that Mission: Impossible 7 does everything he can to resist. Tom Cruise clings to fifth place with $ 10.7 million at the US box office. But it is above all internationally that Ethan Hunt performs. Dead Reckoning Part 1 totals $448 million overall.
