Biblical trailer for The Book of Clarence or the story of Jesus revisited
Lakeith Stanfield reunites with Jeymes Samuel for an explosive peplum.
Monty Python had done Brian’s life. Fifty years later, Jeymes Samuel tells the story of Clarence’s life. With The Book of Clarencethe director of the Netflix western The Harder They Fall takes hold of the peplum to bring us back to the side of Nazareth, to the time when a certain Jesus performed miracle after miracle, attracting a crowd of faithful to him. Enough to give ideas to a scammer named Clarence, who will set up a scheme to ride on the divine atmosphere that reigns in the region. And it will work! So much so that the Romans will intervene…
The star of Sorry to bother you, Lakeith Stanfield plays Clarence, this little crook transformed into a Messiah competing with Jesus, in this biblical film which will take up all the codes of the genre on a US rap sound, since we find some big names in the soundtrack, starting with Jay Zwho is also a producer of the film.
In the casting, we will see the Frenchman Omar Sy, David Oyelowo (Bass Reeves) or Caleb McLaughlin (Stranger Things). In front, James McAvoy will be the evil Roman.
Released on January 12 in the United States. The Book of Clarence does not yet have a release date in France.
