Brad Pitt and his dog in the wilderness: first images

Two years after asphalt and F1, the star returns to the great outdoors in a survival thriller by David Ayer. The first photos from Heart of the Beast have just been revealed.

Twelve years later FuryBrad Pitt will reunite with director David Ayer and will abandon tanks for a four-legged companion. The first images of Heart of the Beast have just been revealed and they show a wild Brad Pitt in the great outdoors. With thick beard, tired eyes and gun in hand, the Oscar-winning actor evolves in the heart of the hostile landscapes of Alaska in this new survival thriller. But the real star of these first photos is Odin, a German shepherd who accompanies Pitt’s character throughout this extreme adventure. The photos reveal the duo in different settings: on board a seaplane, in the wilderness or in front of a makeshift camp lost in the icy vastness.

In Heart of the Beast, we follow James Belmont, a former soldier whose plane crashes in the middle of Alaska. Alongside Odin, his former fighting dog, he will have to survive in particularly hostile conditions. According to the first images revealed during CinemaCon, the duo will have to face wolves, bears and many other dangers lurking in the wilderness.

Known for The Beekeeper, Suicide Squad, Bright or even A Working ManDavid Ayer is not, however, at the origin of the screenplay for Heart of the Beastwritten by Cameron Alexander. A rare case for the director, who explains having been deeply touched by the story: “The storyline made me cry“, he told GQ. “What fascinated me was that the man and the dog were constantly saving each other. This is not a story between a master and his animal. They are equals in this adventure.“

The cast also includes JK Simmons and Anna Lambe.

Heart of the Beast will be released in French theaters on September 23, 2026.
