Criminal Squad 3: Will Gerard Butler make a sequel?

The pitch is already there. And just waiting for the green light from the Lionsgate studio.

Gerard Butler will he bring back Big Nick again? Christian Gudegastdirector of the saga Den of Thieves (original title), evokes the continuation of the franchise, in the wake of the success of Criminal Squad 2: Pantera. This second opus collected more than $32 million at the worldwide box office and has a score of 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, surpassing the first film.

So Gudegast has already proposed the project Criminal Squad 3 at Lionsgate. Even if the details of this third part remain confidential, the signals seem encouraging. “The pitch is ready. Everything is in place. We’re ready to go“, he confided in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

Information confirmed by Gerard Butler himself, who revealed to The Direct that he had received a pitch “fresh and original“according to him, for Criminal Squad 3. The story, according to him, could take place in Africa and promises to “great adventures“. Although the presentation of Christian Gudegast was brief – “one minute and thirty seconds flat“, specifies Butler – it was enough to arouse his enthusiasm and fuel his motivation:

“The idea is incredible, but I prefer to remain cautious in case this version is not accepted. It could happen in Africa, and frankly, everything I have heard so far is very exciting.”

Gerard Butler assures that he very much wants to continue his collaboration with Gudegast and O’Shea Jackson Jr., whom he considers to be an exceptional playing partner. “Working with them is a real pleasure. From the first film, there was a unique chemistry. What we created together brings a real freshness to the heist film genre.”

It remains to be seen whether Lionsgate will validate this new chapter, which promises to be as exotic as it is ambitious.
