Former Baron Zemo plays a struggling superhero blockbuster director in this HBO comedy, to be seen in France on Max.
Any resemblance to a huge existing superhero saga is not purely coincidental… Max reveals a new trailer for his series The Franchisewhich will tell the chaotic behind the scenes of the epic filming of a fantastic blockbuster. A pastiche of the MCU and other DCU, with Daniel Brühlex-Baron Zemo of the Marvel Universe, in the shoes of the European director, overwhelmed by big Hollywood production.
“The Franchise follows the crew of an unloved franchise film as they fight for their place in a wild and unruly cinematic universe.” teases the synopsis of the series. “This comedy sheds light on the secret chaos that reigns in the world of superhero cinema, to ask the question: how exactly are cinematic sausages made? Because every bullshit has an origin story.“
This sets the scene. The series is signed Armando Ianucciwho created Veep a decade ago. Sam Mendes is one of the producers and directed the first episode.
In the casting, we will also find Aya Cash as an assistant, Billy Magnussen as the star of the film, and Richard E. Grant as a drunken old Shakespearean actor.
The Franchise will be broadcast from October 7 in France in streaming on Max.
