Despite his box office flops, this director still offers a casting of stars
A new adaptation of an incredible true story, with Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway in the main roles.
His latest success at the box office dates back to 2016 with Infernohis third adaptation of Dan Brown’s novels after Da Vinci Code And Angels and demons. Despite negative criticism, the film still collected $ 220 million in revenue for 75 million budgets.
But, for a decade, Ron Howard has rather subscribed to flops. In 2015, his adaptation ofAt the heart of the oceancarried by Chris Hemsworth, had been a huge oven, with $ 94 million at the box office per 100 million budget. He also had not managed to save Solo: A Star Wars Storyon which he had arrived along the way. And he recently touched the bottom with Edenhis thriller in the casting XXL (Sydney Sweeney, Ana de Armas, Jude Law…) which only collected $ 2.5 million in the room.

However, the Oscar -winning director (to An exceptional man) Always stands out in Hollywood. And Amazon MGM Studios has just given the green light to its new project, an adaptation of the bestseller Alone at Dawnby offering him two huge stars headlining: Adam Driver and Anne Hathaway.
Deadline revealed the info, confirmed by Amazon. The film will tell an incredible true story, as Howard likes them. That of the battle for the recognition of the heroic sacrifice of John Chapman, a combat controller of the US Air Force Dead to save his companions during the war in Afghanistan. He posthumously received the Medal of Honor for his actions.
Alone at Dawn was written by Dan Schilling, who was also a combat controller, and Chapman’s sister, Lori Chapman Longfritz. The first will be a military consultant on the film.
According to DeadlineRon Howard chose Adam Driver in the main role for his talents, of course, but also his military past. Marked by September 11, 2001, the actor had joined the Marines at the age of 18 before being demobilized after an injury and registering for the Dramatic art school Juilliard.
Amazon will release the film in the cinema, but no date has yet been announced.
