L'Imaginaire: Netflix unveils the pretty trailer created by a regular at Studios Ghibli
Taking advantage of its presence at the Annecy Festival, Netflix unveils a colorful and poetic video of its new animated film directed by Yoshiyuki Momose.
After Mary and the Witch's Flower And Modest heroesPonoc Studios, Ghibli's little brothers, return with a new lyrical and majestic animated film: The Imagination. First feature film directed by Yoshiyuki Momoseanimator who cut his teeth with Hayao Myazaki and Isaho Takahata on Spirited Away, Porco Rosso and Grave of the Fireflies, L'Imaginary is inspired by the novel Amanda and the Imaginary Friends written by AF Harrold and illustrated by Emily Gravett.
“Welcome to the city of Imaginaries”
Amanda is never alone. To play, she can always count on Rudger, her imaginary friend. No one can see him except her. Together, they experience the greatest adventures. One day, separated from Amanda, Rudger finds himself with other abandoned Imaginaries with whom he will have to team up to find her and avoid disappearing. But in this world of pure imagination, a threat looms… reality.
Colorful, creative and optimistic, The Imagination promises to be a sublime animated film. Like nods to its predecessors, certain visual elements immediately recall the feature films of Studios Ghibli: like the mustachioed antagonist similar to the hero of Porco Rosso or this girl changing into a bird like the character of Hauru in The Howl's Moving Castle.
The Imagination will be released on Netflix on July 5.
