The young actress has not set foot on a film set since The Daughters of Doctor March of Greta Gerwig (filmed at the end of 2018). But for all that, it has not drawn a definitive line on the 7th art. She reconsiders this decision to “indentation”announced via an Instagram post – according to her the retrograde Saturn would have something to do with it.
“Around my 30s, I was in a period of change and reflection, I asked myself: ‘But what’s going on?’ and someone told me ‘Oh, that’s normal Saturn retrograde.’ I said to myself: ‘But why didn’t anyone warn me?’ Indeed, I was informed that between the ages of 28 and 32, everything changes.”
Emma Watson explains why she didn’t make a film for 5 years
During this break, the 33-year-old actress made the decision to go behind the camera, notably for the production of a Prada advertisement. And she also embarked on writing projects, including a play:
“Being in a very fast-paced career, taking the time to do these things seemed like a really big decision. Choosing to go back, write, study, and get behind the camera was terrifying for me because I’ve never done it before. I’ve always been in front of the camera, I’ve always been an actress.”
She then explains that she decided to devote herself to projects that made her happy, and established a list of priorities allowing her to devote more time to “really stupid things“, like playing pickleball and collecting stickers.
“When you have a place in Hollywood, it becomes very, very clear that there is absolutely no level of success that will make you happy or content if you don’t love who you are or appreciate what you are. you do when no one is looking“, also says Emma Watson.
The apprentice witch was keen to refocus on those close to her, in particular on her brothers Alex Watson with whom she was able to concoct not potions, but a brand of gin called Renais.
“After Covid, I really became aware of the importance of building your circle and meticulously investing your time and energy in it.“
Emma Watson never completely ruled out returning as an actress, but her possible return to the screen is not on the agenda. Today she prefers to focus on her writing projects and promote eco-responsible fashion by wearing vintage clothes or clothes made from recycled materials during her photo shoots and public appearances.
