Foe: Saoirse Ronan and Paul Mescal as a couple in a dystopian drama
The two Irish actors are reunited in a film by Garth Davis, co-director of the Top of the Lake series.
Foe can boast of having headlined Saoirse Ronan (lady bird) And Paul Mescal (aftersun), two young stars accustomed to red carpets. Known for their intimate dramas, this time they are leaning towards dystopian science fiction. The trailer of Foe reveals a thriller with an oppressive atmosphere, suggesting a camera that could have been part of a season of black-mirror.
In the near future (2065), Junior and Hen see their daily life turned upside down by the arrival of Terrance, a stranger, in their home. He announces to Junior that he has been selected to go and live in an experimental station in orbit around the Earth. Faced with an impossible choice, the couple will have to fight to preserve their bonds. Garth Davis seems to be in line with future sci-fi films that deal with a pessimistic future for humanity. The trailer highlights the “author” cachet of the film, because of its casting and its director. Foe will be released in theaters on October 6 in the United States, before being available on Amazon Prime Video.
