Get on a train ride with the new Beetlejuice 2 trailer

“What is this mess ?”

Harry Belafonte and his legendary Day-O associated for eternity with Beetlejuice have given way for a new trailer to another legendary group: the Bee Gees. A sign of change, but not of modernity. Thirty-six years after the release of this gothic-themed comedy by Tim Burtonthe bio-exorcist played by Michael Keaton is called a second time from the dead. Beetlejuice… Beetlejuice…. Stop, say no more!

Unexpectedly, this sequel has arrived. A first trailer of Beetlejuice 2 even came out last May, bringing in new faces, Monica Bellucci, a sort of bride of Frankenstein, and Willem Dafoein the world of the dead. The rebellious teenager is no longer Lydia, played by Winona Ryder, but his daughter Astrid (Jenna Ortega) who got into trouble and awakens the monster that still traumatizes her mother. Among all the chaos and laughter, this first trailer focused on nostalgia with the return of special effects from yesteryear far from digital.

The dead and the living of Beetlejuice 2 have their poster: Jenna Ortega, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux…

An eternity later, a new trailer has just been released and it’s even crazier. Although this one starts in a school, it has nothing to do with the series. Wednesday ! Astrid is a teenager who doesn’t let anyone walk all over her and who doesn’t seem to have a very close relationship with her mother – as evidenced by Lydia’s contact on her phone (“supposed mother”). But in the village, Lydia is not just anyone: “He’s a real legend!”

In contradiction with her mother, Astrid does not believe in ghosts and we understand that it is her mistrust that will lead her to get into trouble and force her mother to call on her worst nightmare: Beetlejuice.

This is where the trouble begins. Michael Keaton does not seem to have lost his touch, or rather his head, as if he had never really left his character. Always making jokes that are sometimes sickening.

In the afterlife, Astrid will not be at the end of her surprises. She will see ghosts. Between Tet’Réduite, Willem Dafoe and Monica Bellucci who seems to be looking for Beetlejuice, things go wrong. As a bonus, a dance sequence reminiscent of the dinner in the original film. Once again, the promo is banking on nostalgia.

Theory confirmed with a new poster that is reminiscent of the one from 1988. The concept is the same: in the center the haunted house changing from white to black under a shroud, Beetlejuice sitting there as if on a throne and around him the swarm of characters. This time, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder are not tiny at the bottom, but at the top of the poster, and Lydia does not seem reassured…

With the bio exorcist around and now a possible furious fiancée, it’s easy to see why. From a screenplay by Seth Grahame-Smith (Dark Shadow), by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (who co-wrote Wednesday), Beetlejuice 2 will be released on September 11th.
